SYF 2009 is finally over. can breathe normally now. hahas. anyway, do not have any regrets. You know you had done your best and gotten a bronze medal. we being a young and small band, with majority of us inexperience.
To some of your, Bronze may not be satisfying, but still, we had done our best already.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, it is the learning experience we gone through.
The memories we went through together as a band. the sufferings, the tiredness, the enjoyments, the punishments, the joys, the jokes, the excitement, the nervousness, etc....

SEC 1s and SEC 2s, continue to work hard ! Do not slack in your playing. Continue to practice regularly and maintain your standard. In year 2011, 2 years from now, it will be your turn to be in me and my fellow graduating bandits' shoe.

Time for me to go. BYE !

Hi Band, the day is coming !! 3 more days !

anyway, i think the problem most of us facing now should be performing anxiety *nervousness, feeling intimidated by other big bands, etc..

use this : Mental visualization

First,You sit down, maybe before you practice or when you have a little extra time, and close your eyes. Imagine yourself at the performance. Imagine every detail: what you will wear, what the audience looks like, your accompanist, etc. Now, begin your performance. Hear and see yourself play each note perfectly. Feel each breath you take, your instrument, the music as you turn the page. When you are done, smile out over the audience. Hear their applause, their complements to you in the lobby, other musicians back stage congratulating you on your performance. Do this many times before the actual concert, and you will find it much easier to perform.
Believe in yourself ! Follow your section motto !

For the past and today's Band Practice, Ms Ten gone through a lot of things with us, DO NOT FORGET THOSE !!! NOTE IT DOWN ON YOUR SCORE, IT IS OKAY TO BE VERY DIRTY WITH WORDS. TRY YOUR BEST TO PLAY WHAT IS REQUIRED !

THESE 2 WEBSITES should be useful to overcome your fear of fear.

Dear fellow Punggol bandits,

It's the time of the year again where the stress level hits a peak and tension rises. I know that most of you are giving this SYF Central Judging Competition your very best, putting in a lot of time and effort to practise on your instruments and attend band practices. For those of you who have grown so much in terms of character and musical skills, I'm proud of you guys. For those of you who are still young and inexperience, do take this stressful period as a learning journey and not give up halfway (though it's really so easy to just give up trying hard).

Whilst THE DAY is drawing nearer, I strongly urge all of you to take good care of yourselves by drinking loads of water and having sufficient rest. Look forward to seeing you guys at band practice again when school reopens on Monday :)

Ms. Han :)

. 31 March . BAND NO. 25 .
7th for the day.

we are together with
1) CHIJ St. Nicholas . syf '07 : silver
2) Damai . syf '07 : silver
3) Greenridge . syf '07 : bronze
4) Christ Church . syf '07 : COP
5) North View . syf '07: COP
6) Changkat Changi . syf '07 : bronze
7) PUNGGOL . syf '07 : bronze
8) Presbyterian High . syf '07 : bronze
9) Hougang . syf '07 : silver
10) Ang Mo Kio . syf '07 : GWH

see that ? there are an equal mix of Bands together with us. From COP to GWH !! time is ticking. time is not on our side anymore. like what azhar said " we only have around 49 hours left". stop playing a fool, make your practices worth it. don't waste your time for nothing.

" Despite having lack in numbers, we replace it up by quality " - quoted by Mr Stuward Khoo from ex-PM, Minister Lee.

Despite a small band, we can definitely achieve the impossible. we had done that before, lets do it again.

The results are, in. Punggol Concert Band, *drum roll*
Gold With Honors!
Imagine that?!

Oh-kay, we have been informed that we will be performing on the 31st of March at 10.15am.
Oh-kay, that leaves us with how many practices with Ms Ten?

7th: 8am tp 4pm
9th: 2.30pm to 5pm
11th: 2.30pm to 6pm
13th: 1pm to 6pm
14th: 8am to 4pm
17th: 1.30pm to 9pm
18th: 1.30pm to 9pm
20th: 8am to 4pm
23th: 2.30pm to 5pm
25th: 2.30pm to 5pm
27th: 1pm to 6pm
28th: 8am to 4pm

According to my pro calculation, we only have around 49 hours (does not include sectionals) of solid practice after minus-ing the time we need to set up instruments, breaks and lunch break. So what you have to do?

best is you get my goal up there(:

♪ The BAND

PUNGGOL SECONDARY CONCERT BAND, also known as PSSB, was established in 2001. Through the years, with the support from the School and Teachers, PSSB have managed to overcome challenges and achieved beyond boundaries.

The Band has been under our Resident Conductress, Ms Ten Rong Rong, since our founding days. Under her baton, the Band participated in her first ever SYF in the year 2005, attaining a Bronze Medal. Since then, PSSB has maintained her standard and earned her well deserved medals in both Year 2007 and 2009.

Being part of the Performing Arts Group, the Band has constantly been part of the school’s celebration. From CNY Concert to the Annual Speech Day, PSSB is always there to bring entertaining music to the crowd. Apart from that, the Band is also nicknamed as the heart-beat of Punggol Secondary’s Marching Contingents.

PSSB started its very own mini-concert last year, specially organized for the members’ parents for their continuous support for the Band. The Band also performed in her first joined concert at TPY HDB HUB in 2006. In 2008, the Band was also involved in the Performing Group Concert held at the NAFA.

Together with Ms Ten and the teachers, PSSB is confident that we can continue to strive and attain higher standards of musicianship and also the passion for music in years to come.
